This dataset contains raw characterization and transmembrane anion transport data generated in a study investigating gold nanoparticles functionalized with urea- and thiourea-based anion receptors. The study explores the use of densely functionalized gold nanoparticles as synthetic transmembrane anion transporters and examines how the structure of the ligand shell influences transport activity. In particular, the effects of the hydrogen-bonding motif (urea versus thiourea) and the spacer length (C5 versus C11) were investigated.
The dataset includes ¹H and ¹³C NMR spectra of the synthesized anion receptor ligands, FTIR spectra of the ligands and functionalized gold nanoparticles, TEM images of the gold nanoparticles, and raw data from transmembrane anion transport studies.
Anion transport was investigated using fluorescence-based assays in lipid vesicles. Lucigenin assays were used to measure Cl⁻/NO₃⁻ exchange, while carboxyfluorescein leakage assays were used to assess membrane permeabilization. Transport experiments were performed using both pre-incorporation and post-incorporation methods, in which nanoparticles or free ligands were incorporated into vesicles during vesicle preparation or added to preformed vesicles, respectively.
The dataset is provided in .fid, .txt, .xlsx, and .pdf formats. The individual files contain raw experimental data or measurement results, while Excel files compile data from multiple measurements into a single worksheet, where applicable.
