Maize cultivation has dispersed far away of place of origin in Central America. It was possible thanks to: breaking of maize photoperiodic requirements; selection of early genotypes. Here we explore the potential traits, which could allow plants grow in low temperature of the temperate climate. Based on the earlier studies we defined five phenotypes of response to cold. The aim of this investigation is decription of the machanisms of mentioned phenotypes.
