This dataset consists of four zip archives containing different types of data:
Additional metadata are available in readme files within each of the archives. Furthermore two files with metadata considering used strains of fungi (strains.csv) and growth conditions (iron_variants.csv) are provided.
Briefly about the project and methods used to obtain the data:
Interactions of four Entomortierella ferrotolerans strains with iron were tested. To examine the impact of iron concentrations on the physiology of the species liquid culture media of different iron concentrations were inoculated with spores. The data on iron concentration variants, where growth was observed are available in iron_variants.csv. The cultures were sampled multiple times to assess the following. The iron concentration changes in medium were tracked using FAAS and pH changes were measured. The weight of mycelia were measured and iron content was examined using FAAS. The data on organic compound production were gathered with the use of GC-MS. Biosurfactants production was examined with the use of OST, Parafilm M and Emulsification index tests. Siderophore production was examined with the use of CAS medium.
The influence of E. ferrotolerans on iron class A construction rods (courtesy of Stal Service, Nieporęt, Polska) was examined with the use of scanning electron microscopy.
